BUSINESS OWNERS
You can advertise your business on this website
In the past business owners have had only two choices when they decided to sell their business. They could hire a broker and pay a huge commission, or they could try to sell it themselves. Most brokers charge either 10% or 12% of the listing price, with a minimum fee of $10,000 or $12,000.
Now there is a viable third choice. You can still sell it yourself and save many thousands of dollars. You can do this by retaining us to assist you in evaluating and pricing your business for sale. We can prepare an offering memorandum and can advertise your business on this web-site and in your local newspaper. We can assist you in preparing the business for sale, and in the due diligence process. We are not Brokers, and we do not list and sell businesses for a commission. We will work on an hourly rate, or on a flat fee basis. We will save you from 75% to over 95% of the standard Brokers fees. Our fees are based on our service – not on your selling price.
The concept is not new. It is said that about 20% of residential home sales are by owner today. Millions of dollars in commissions have been saved by owners using “Help-U-Sell” and “For-Sale-By-Owner”. They have changed the real estate industry by giving home owners a choice.
Selling a business is much more complicated than selling a residence. We are not lawyers or accountants and do not give legal or accounting advice. We are not brokers, and we do not list and sell businesses. But we have had over 50 years experience in business valuation and sales, and can give you valuable ideas and suggestions to help you sell your business yourself.
We will price your business, prepare an offering memorandum, advertise your business on this website, in your local newspaper, and on several national websites. You can handle prospective buyers directly, or we can screen them for you, and eliminate the dreamers, schemers, and those that have read the “No Money Down” books. We can assist with financing, and can save you much time and frustration.
Before listing with a Broker you should call and interview several of them. They are listed in the yellow pages in your area. They are not all equal. There is no MLS service for business listings and unlike real estate agents business brokers rarely cooperate with each other. The person who takes your business listing is likely to be the only person who will be handling your sale.
Statistics show that business brokers on the average sell less than 1 in 10 of their small business listings.
There is no charge for our first interview whether it lasts 5 minutes or 5 hours
We will answer any questions by e-mail or over the phone at any time without any charge.
Call us first – or call us last – but call us – you will be glad you did.
